Bethany is the last one of the kids in the family. I have taken all 3 kids senior pics and the whole family always comes together. They drive from hours away to come visit. They make me laugh, I mean, really laugh! It's always fun :)

For Bethanys' pics, we did some shots at the studio, Franklin Park Conservatory, and for an awesome treat, we visited OSU for some shots in Shoe.

Personal-Bon Jovi Concert

So it's been a pretty fun few weeks. I got to see Rick Springfield with my friend, Gina, last month. This week it was Bon Jovi! All I can say is that it was AWESOME! Of course, I didn't win tickets and all that was available when I got online to purchase tickets were side rear seats. Quite different than the seats we had last time, but none the less, AWESOME concert.

Max took the pic below of Jaz, me, Shelley, and Sama before the concert. He was in charge of taking 4 crazy blonde girls to Columbus for the night. I know it must have been rough for him :)

When she told me she drove a Lincoln, I said we HAVE to take a picture with it. She laughed and told me all the stories that come with her driving this big car during her senior year. I am so happy we took the shoot because it turned out to be one of our fav's.

On this day, I was reminded of the beauty in life & love. The weather was perfect and Ben & Catherine were all around wonderful to work with. Smiles, smiles, and more genuine smiles.....they truly love being around each other.

We made our way through Goodale Park in Columbus and then wandered over to the gorgeous blooming trees at North Bank Park.

A perfect place to end...........right where it all began. This is where Ben proposed to Catherine.

This was the first of a few shoots, as I will be working with Robin on building her makeup portfolio. Robin works at Tangles Hair Salon in Lancaster. She wants to feature some fun spring/summer looks for upcoming prom and bridal season.

I have had lots of different photo shoots in the last couple weeks. But something else has had me extra busy......our new puppy, Buster. I have NEVER had a dog before....always cats. We moved into our new house in the winter and it has a fenced yard. Then, our friend's dog, an Australian Shepherd, had puppies. Therefore, here comes Buster into our lives. His mom and dad are Australian Shepherd. He doesn't look a thing like them, but seems to have that personality. He's a lot of fun, likes to run, has a "thing" for shoes, and loves to cuddle. I think we will get along just perfectly!!

And I have to share my fav pic of Flash, our 18 lb. cat. This was a couple years ago when he was a kitten..............

Personal- A new lens & a jar of buttons

In anticipation of the spring/summer photography season, I made a list of must-haves. Like a new camera case and a new lens. Today was the day to shop so I asked my friend, Shelley, to go with me. I knew she would jump in the car when I said "camera store".

After 30 minutes of trying out camera cases, I decided the decision was too much for me (and the camera store guy) today so I went on to the lens on my list. A 50mm 1.4. This decision was a little easier. I made the purchase and Shelley and I were off to North Market for some yummy Vietnamese soup.

Fast forward to home. I got out the jar of buttons I saved from my Mom who was a seamstress.....an awesome seamstress. The photo below was taken with my Nikon D700 and the new 50mm 1.4. The bokeh is dreamy and I am in love :)

I am so excited! We have been working on the new website for a couple months now. Jazmin listened to all my ideas, then we worked and re-worked. She came up with great stuff! I am so proud of her! Well, I am proud of her for way more reasons than designing my website.... like her Superior Science Award she received last night, her fantastic artistic abilities, and watching the whole series of Gilmore Girls all over again with me :) She is an awesome all-around kid!

Then Max did all his behind the scenes website, computer, techno thingys that I have clue about and WALLA'....a new site.

Personal-Hot Ginger Soup

I am a Foodie. Now that doesn't mean I love to cook, but I do love to eat. I love different food, spicy food, and sometimes what others call weird food. This past year has taken me on a food path that I wasn't prepared for. My thyroid issues actually had stemmed from what I now believe to be an allergic reaction....a reaction to gluten. To make a long story short, I do not have to take thyroid medication now and my energy is back to the 'dance in the living room' level again but I must watch what I eat. Which brings me to today's blog photos.

Jaz and I went to Half-Price Books this week. I found the book, "Allergy-free Cookbook" by Alice Sherwood. I was instantly intrigued and when I saw the recipe for noodles in hot ginger broth, I knew that book was going in my shoppin' buggy.

I went to the store and bought items in which some, I had never purchased before...........therefore, the pic below:

Chris and Mandy made the trip from Indiana for their shoot in downtown Columbus. I knew I was in for some fun when I heard about the outfit changes. With the help of Mandy's wonderfully creative sister, Rachel, this shoot took on a fashion love story of it's own. The photo below is what I call "Foot Flirtin' "..........

Rachel asked permission in advance from the owner of Flower Child to take some photos inside the store. How fun for us all!!!

I have always wanted to do a live mannequin shot. This day I got my wish.

Chris's proposal story was sooooo cute. The sign he is holding (NONE AS BEAUTIFUL AS YOU!) led up to the big question.

Now I would like to say this ended perfectly. But I can't lie. So maybe tomorrow............

I checked the date. This engagement session idea had been planned since October 2009! On that beautiful fall day that I met with Audrey and Eric, we talked about what kind of session would be great for them. The idea of a snow based photo shoot was brought up and we all got happy! Sleds, scarves, hats, and snow filled our minds with fun. The day finally arrived last weekend and I think even the doggies, Scarlett and Zinny had a good time...well, at least we know Scarlett had a good time, as you can see below........

I just have a feeling that the wedding day will be as fun and relaxed as it was this very day....minus the snow :)

Annual Winter Hike

Once upon a COLD wintery day.......

Last weekend, I photographed the annual Winter Hike hosted by Berger Health Care System. It just so happened that the morning of the hike, I woke up to -15 degrees! that is NEGATIVE 15 degrees! Everyone that knows me can tell you, I am NOT a cold weather girl. I love the beach, I love flip-flops, and I LOVE the heat. But I was committed to the project so I bundled up with about 5 layers, a snowsuit, hat, scarf, 2 pairs of gloves, Toastie Toes and hand warmers. I could barely move.

As I stepped out of the truck and made my way to the hiking area, I was blessed with these peaceful winter views. All the work it took to get there, was TOTALLY worth it. It didn't even matter that my mascara froze as it rolled down my face :)

I was all those words above when I received an email from The Knot saying they wanted to publish one of our photos. The shot was from Julian and Lauren's wedding taken on the 50 yard line in the OSU stadium. It was a blast taking the photo and an added bonus to have it featured in the Spring 2011 Ohio edition of The Knot magazine.

Jeff and Jessica's wedding was our last wedding of the season. I had been anxiously awaiting their special day. We went to Pennsylvania for a super fun engagement session and I knew the wedding would be just as unique. As anyone knows that has worked with me, I can be a cry-baby sometimes. When Jessica pulled out her wedding dress (which had actually been her mother's wedding dress), the tears started. The fall colors flowed effortlessly with the bouquets and flower arrangements by BloomTastic. Darby House was the setting for the ceremony and the reception.

While Jessica was getting her makeup done, Mom made sure she was prepared with snacks :)

And the guys made sure that they were prepared too!

When I met with Nikki, I knew we would work well together. She warned me that Scott may not be "into" the pictures as much as we were, but he was a great guy and would cooperate with us :) The day of the engagement shoot, I met Scott for the first time. I could tell he was a little apprehensive as the majority of men are at first, but as these pictures will show, it took no time at all for everyone to have fun! There were even a few non-coached 'kissey' pictures :)

So many reasons why I love photography. It makes me happy to make other people happy. I realize that my world is filled with memories. Memories of yesterday make up my 'todays'. In going through some random shots from this past year, I ran across this photo. Max must have taken it while I was just yappin' away. But when I saw this.......the look on the couple's faces on their wedding day.....it made me happy. Maybe they were laughing at me......or with me. Who knows, but either way....we are happy.

On a wonderful side note, I just was informed from The Knot that Amy Rebecca Photography has been picked for the 2011 Best of Weddings. HOW EXCITING! Just wanted to say thanks again for all the kind words and referrals from the couples I have been privileged to work with!!! It is fun to Love what you Do.

The whole day had a beautiful theme of family and friends. From the moment I stepped into the house, I was greeted with hugs and a room full of happy girls. Girls that had all grown up together. I can only imagine how they must have talked about what this day would be like. And it was finally here!

The guys were all gathered together, as well. I just loved this photo of what a groom needs to get ready for his wedding.
And girls need shoes!! Lots of shoes!!

As the ladies read the card that PJ just sent over the Abby. I can see the tears in Abby's eyes.

PJ and Abby chose to see each other before the ceremony. Nothing but tears of joy and happiness.

I met Nick and Maggie for the first time the day of our photo shoot at Inniswood Gardens. It quickly turned into 2 hours of fun and laughs.........with some "Blue Steel" in between :)

College friends.........Nick and Maggie,in time, fell in love. Their chemistry is undeniable and their love for each other is outwardly seen.

Sometimes I suggest for the couple to get cozy. Nick mixed it up by sitting on Maggie's lap first :)

I can't wait to see what wonderful photos we are in for on the day of the wedding!

Corey loves to joke around and Misty loves to laugh so they make a totally fun couple. We started out at the park and ended up following them around on Corey's Harley.

Personal- Persimmons and Frosty Leaves

So I guess winter is coming. I saw all these frosty leaves in my yard a couple days ago. Kind of cool, but none the less, means winter is right around the corner. I am all about a good snowfall with sleds and snowmen, but to be honest, the day to day cold weather with no snow is not my cup of tea.

And of course, when I make a personal blog, I must talk about food. I saw a persimmon at the store last week. Never had a persimmon before........have you?? Anyway, it was amazingly good! How can I be 30 something (alright... 39), and have never had a persimmon before!

One more food shoutout.........Yummy Earth makes the most wonderful lollipops and gummy bears. I found the lollipops while at a photography seminar in Chicago. I have been on the hunt for some nutritional gummy bears. I recently read the label on the Spiderman fruit snacks I had been eating like crazy and saw the ingredient of mineral oil. What's up with that!!!? Anyway, I just found the Yummy Earth organic gummy bears and now all is right again in my little world of food. www.yummyearth.com

If it was possible to call the weather man and request the perfect autumn day for a wedding, it would seem someone had done so for Justin and Jessica. Blue skies and a warm breeze filled the mountain at the Pine Lakes Lodge in Salesville, Ohio. The wedding was intimate with close friends and family. Some loved ones even traveled overseas to watch this beautiful day unfold.

Danny & Courtney chose Inniswood Gardens for their engagement shoot. The leaves were wonderful and the light was fabulous. The make such a great couple-----the only issue I can see is a little difference in opinion about college football :)

This was Courtney's idea. Even if the colors are different, the state is the same, right?!

The wedding next year will be so much fun!! Can't wait :)

Personal-Busy is good

Busy is an understatement for me these days. I barely have time to make my Decaf Skinny Vanilla Latte in the morning, let alone, blog. This morning, I confess, I just ran threw Starbucks...Eggnog Latte...that's what I'm talkin' about!

I have been shooting nearly everyday and sometimes, twice a day. I have sooooo many pictures I want to share, but it will have to wait till I can catch my breath. In the meantime, I want to share one photo. This family portrait is very special to me. WHY?

1. This is Michael and Andrea with their beautiful daughter. I took Michael and Andrea's wedding pics a few years ago and see their beautiful faces everyday on a canvas in my studio. Now they have an adorable daughter.

2. It's realistic. Do kids always look at the camera and smile? Do we want them to? Sometimes it nice. and yes, we did get some of those. But this is real life!!! Their daughter decided that, instead of looking at the camera, she would lay down on the park road and roll. Michael and Andrea warned me that this may happen.

3. I laid down on the road & laughed till tears rolled down my face! It made me happy. It still makes me laugh. And sometimes when you have alot going on in life, a picture like this brings you back down to earth.

There may have been a few sprinkles on Brandon & Bethany's wedding day, but the sun peaked through the clouds and gave way to a beautiful evening glow at Franklin Park Conservatory.

The reception was so unique. It took place in the main seating area in the front part of the conservatory. Usually when I go into the conservatory on a normal day, this area is so quite. This night, it was a party!!! The music was cranked and there was some DANCIN'!!

There were a few tears, but all in the name of love and happiness.

Smiles and tears of joy were abundant for Brandon & Bethany's wedding day. It was a close tie between Brandon and Bethany for the "Most Smiles".......and a close tie between Bethany and her Mom for the "Most Happy Tears". Either way, the day was full of emotion.

As the years have gone by, their love has grown. Their love for each other.....and sports!

Jeremy proposed at Gantz Park in Grove City. How appropriate that we did their engagement session there, as well.

What a day it was! The cute couple, the beautiful light, the different venues, and yes..........the car! Jeremy and Katie planned to have a white Rolls Royce as their transportation. Believe me, I couldn't have been happier!

AWWW....the sweet light. With a little help from my awesome lighting/photography assistant, Jazmin, we got these wonderful shots.

The whole gang was so cooperative with all the different locations we went to. This was where Jeremy and Katie met. Who says love can't happen at The Lodge Bar!!!

Short North.......

I LOVE this picture on the left. Max took this while I was running around. The soft blue evening light on the building and the sun hitting the car.....perfect. And the photo on the right...the reception site. The Loft. Original...Swanky....Funky....and Fun.....at least that's how I would describe it.

Jeremy and Katie's wedding took us to some wonderful new places in Columbus. Our day began at The Lofts Hotel. The building itself had the coolest blend of history colliding with contemporary design. In a way, I felt like that described the entire day. Such a sweet mix of old with new, retro with modern, and down-to-earth meets glam. I was in LOVE with the day and Jeremy and Katie were in LOVE with each other.

Personal-Shopping Therapy

This may be the most random post ever from me. I think this thyroid problem is making me sillier than even before. Last week, Jaz wanted to go through Burger King. So I ordered her a Big Kids meal, PLAIN, of course, and a Whopper Jr. After I ordered, Jaz asked who was I getting the Whopper Jr. for? I said, "I WANTED a WHOPPER JR. OK!" She said, "WHAT??" I said, "WHAT?" ......Did I really order a whopper for myself? I quit eating meat months ago and just forgot!!! Then I tried to pay the girl with my Sally's Beauty Card instead of my bank card!

Which leads to my shopping therapy theme. I am feeling a little UN-Amy. Shopping might help, I say to myself. But really, how many little black dresses does one blonde chic need???? I guess as many as she sees. 'It would look so cute with my cowboy boots", so yes, I bought another black dress.

I will say it again......I can't tell you how much I LOVE it when couples are willing to spend just a little extra time for some "outside the box" photos on their wedding day. Alyssa and Eli were up for whatever we found. Fortunately they had a SWEET get-away car that came early enough for photos. And, of course, two of my favorite things.......weeds and a cornfield!

In keeping in line with the Old Hollywood theme, Eli and Alyssa made their own home movie in just that style.

I can't help it........I LOVE a photo booth!

From the moment I received the invitation in the mail to Eli & Alyssa's wedding, I knew it would be original. Actually, from the time I spoke with Alyssa on the phone, I had a feeling it would all click. The theme....old Hollywood. All the details made this into an extra special event for not only Alyssa and Eli, but all of us involved.

Where would old Hollywood be without red lipstick. One more extra special touch from Alyssa.

Senior Pictures- It's the Season

It is 2011 senior picture time. The yellow sun is in the blue sky and the fragrance of the coming fall is in the air.

I started thinking about all the great people and places photography brings into my life. One day I can be on a cattle farm, the next day be on a football field. One day I can be in the weeds, the next be in the creek, or sometimes both in the same day. And once in awhile, I fall in the creek (like last week). My foot and leg were quite the mess, but the camera was saved and although there was some pain involved, it was still quite funny! It just goes to show, I put my heart and soul into my work.

I encourage all the kids to show their personality. Climb a tree, throw a football, play your guitar, or just be goofy. Here's just a sample of this years awesome seniors.........

And this one goes out to all the moms and dads that are there to support and help. We love our kids and that's just what we do.........

Personal-A "Switch it up" Day

In anticipation of a 2 wedding weekend, I thought I would schedule a "Switch it Up" Day. It is hard to say a "day off" because who wants to take a day off from doing what they love. So I thought I would call it something a little different. I knew I needed a little rest before this weekends back to back weddings (both, by the way, I am really looking forward to). I even thought I would take a break from working out today, even though I Love to do that also. I knew it would be a wonderful day when, on the way to high school, Jaz and her friend were willing to listen to MJ "Smooth Criminal". With the sunroof open, the windows down, and the air conditioner on, I cruised all the way back into town. A little later in the morning, a small storm blew in, just in time for my little nap. I turned on NexFlix and found a movie with Brittany Murphy about Ramen Noodles. Although it was cute, it led into my nap. After a short rest, the blue sky reappeared for the afternoon. Hmmmm......should I? Dare I? Yes, I think I will lay in the sun. So therein lies the answer to why the sunscreen is in the above picture. But while I was out there, I really needed some music and IceTea. I have to give a shout out to my new Skull Candy ear buds. I didn't want to look like Run DMC when I was working out, so I asked the guy at Best Buy and he suggested these. AWESOME! I have been listening to MJ for over 25 years (since I was 4...haha) and today I heard musical instruments in the background that I have never heard before! All in all, a pretty sweet "Switch it Up" Day :)

Wedding-Brett & Valerie-Part 2

Brett and Valerie were willing to go all around the OU campus for pictures. We were in an alley, a bar, the middle of the street, the park, train tracks.........totally fun for a photographer like me!

This wall on campus can be painted over and over again. This time it was for the bride and groom.

The reception was at the Ohio University Inn.

The Royales played and got the crowd literally jumping up and down with dance!

When Valerie said I could dance at their wedding, especially to MJ, I thought that was so cool. And then I saw this dance she did with her friends. Let's just say a little NSync was in the house :)

And this........well you will just have to ask Brett and Valerie!!

Ohio University in Athens shined brightly on this beautiful July day. The smell of gardenias from Valerie's bouquet gave a special accent to the love that was in the air. Brett and Valerie truly made the most of their day....enjoying it to the full with friends, family, and a rockin' band!

Her bouquet was so wonderful, it deserves two photos on the blog :)

Little side note on the chapel. I had a 'first' this day. I MAY have...well, I DID, set off the alarm and the police had to come check it out. I think we should just go for 'props to the photographer' for being the first one there and forget about the whole breaking and entering thing :)

How much do I LOVE it when couples make the time for some great photos? I Love it Alot!! That's exactly what Brian and Liz did. We ran all around downtown Columbus, then made our way to the Athletic Club for the reception. I am so thankful to have been a part of Brian and Liz's wedding. From the time we had our engagement shoot, I had been looking forward to it. They are a beautiful couple,truly in love, and surrounded with adoring friends and family.

It was a hot July day but the sky was beautiful and blue.......much like the colors of Julian and Lauren's wedding. Lauren was simply radiant and Julian was proud to be the man by her side. They make a fantastic couple and I couldn't have been happier to be a part of their wedding day.

And I know it's gonna be a great day with such an awesome pair of wedding shoes!!

Engagement-Jeff & Jessica

"Willing to travel for an engagement shoot?", they ask. Well, OF COURSE :) Thus began our trip to Troy, PA. A beautiful little town with hills and mountains, lakes, barns, and yes....good food! We had so much fun with Jeff and Jessica.

We started at Grandma's house. The view was spectacular.

And, of course, a barn in the middle of nowhere...LOVE!

Just a quick shout out to Grammas' Kitchen. Jessica suggested we go there for breakfast. OH MY...the blueberry pancakes and the home baked cookies...YUMMY!

Personal-Cage Free Eggs & Pills

So this week has given me lots to think about. I have been feeling a little rough around the edges lately and a little crazier than normal. I even caught myself talking to the carton of eggs at the grocery store. I said, (out loud), "Are you really cage free? Does that mean cage free for life or cage free for 5 minutes?" As I saw the man standing next to me at the store, I confessed that I was talking to the eggs. He said that is ok...as long as they don't start talking back to me :)

I began buying cage free eggs awhile back due to some things I saw on tv about the chickens that weren't cage free. But then recently someone mentioned that cage free doesn't necessarily mean cage free for life. So I went to the web. ...........oh so scary web! I can barely get through the paragraphs about the chickens and the terrible things that happen to them. Tears are rolling and I feel terrible about eating the eggs. What to do? Well, I quit eating chickens, cows, pigs, and turkeys a few months ago.........now eggs? I just don't know.........

This brings me to the pills part. I just found out that I have to take pills for my thyroid. Hyperthyroid, I have. Hyper may describe me some of the time, but for the last month...not so much.

Maybe the madness will calm down when the pills kick in, but for now.........what to do about the eggs???

Wedding-Mike & Melinda-Part 2

The sun shined and the smiles flowed all day. Ceremony to reception......and what a party that turned out to be!

Melinda couldn't contain her excitement as she walked down the aisle. I am happy she was so expressive! I can feel her joy......

What an awesome wedding party to be posing in the middle of the street!

It's so cool to find all the little treasures at each wedding. Stick pins with yellow tops (wedding color themed) to hold the name cards. I just loved it!

And the gift table. I know sometimes people wonder why I am snooping around the gift table, but really I am just looking for fun things like this.......

Now, I did mention party. Mike and Melinda know how to party. They aren't just in the party...they ARE the party!

On stage with the band......56 DAZE. What an awesome band!

So here's the wedding FIRST I mentioned in the last blog. Mike was asked on stage to sing with the band. Mike is in a band himself, so let me tell you, we were Impressed!! Have you ever heard a groom sing Billy Idol's "White Wedding"? Well, we did! AWESOME!!

This is what I love about wedding photography......I never know exactly what the day will bring! Little treasures of uniqueness and lots of emotions. Based on our engagement session, I knew Mike and Melinda would be fun. They didn't disappoint!!

Melinda gave all the bridesmaids these adorable purses.

They chose to see each other before the ceremony. One... to allow time for more fun pictures, but also to share the day together.

One might say a large wedding party :) Sooo cute!

I fell in love with the colors and the bows. Everyone put their own twist on how the bow was tied.

As the morning approached, we all wondered about the rain in the forecast. But the weatherman was wrong and blue skies proceeded all day long for Courtney & Brian's outside ceremony at Bryn Du Mansion in Granville.

Brian and Courtney opted for the first look before the ceremony.

Tears of joy released any anxious feelings and we were off to some fun portraits. I will show those in the next post.

I don't think they stopped smiling all day!

FANS!! The best wedding favor they could have possibly presented their guests. It was slightly hot :)
